Laser hair removal
Laser hair removal is a fast and safe method of removing unwanted hair from almost all areas of the body. It is a relatively painless procedure. Laser hair removal leaves your skin silky and smooth. Areas that are commonly treated are the face, legs, bikini line, chest and underarms. All skin areas can be treated except eyelids.
Laser hair removal targets the pigment in the hair follicle. This treatment is very effective but can only be used on hair with a significant level of pigment, within the black and brown spectrum of colour. Unfortunatly, white, strawberry and blond hair contain too little colour to be treated effectively. For these hair colours only electrolysis can permanently remove the hair.
During a laser hair removal treatment, light passes through the skin and is absorbed by the colour (melanin) in the hairshaft. This absorbtion raises the temperature of the hair follicle and thermally kills the cells responsible for re-growth. The laser is set so the hair follicle is targeted and the skin remains unaffected.
